UPPER PENINSULA POWER COMPANY SUSPENDS SHUTOFFS
EXTENDS SENIOR PROTECTION PROGRAM IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19
Marquette – Upper Peninsula Power Company’s (UPPCO) top priority is the health and safety of its customers, employees and the communities we serve. We make every effort to deliver clean,
reliable energy to more than 55,000 customers that reside and work in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
As our nation confronts the global coronavirus pandemic, UPPCO is enacting several measures to help those customers whose lives may become significantly disrupted. Effective immediately, we are suspending shutoffs for non-payment through April 5, 2020 for income eligible customers. In addition, Customers that are enrolled in UPPCO’s Senior Winter Protection program have had their end dates extended automatically through May 3, 2020.
Customers who are significantly impacted by COVID-19 – those with a sudden loss of income or medical condition – as well as our vulnerable senior citizens, are encouraged to contact us at 906.449.2013 or dial “2-1-1” from anywhere in the Upper Peninsula to determine eligibility for payment assistance programs.
