Is induction really faster than gas?

Yes. In addition to faster cooking times, many users find induction offers:

    Yes. Induction transfers most of its energy directly into the cookware, making it more than 50% more efficient than gas and 5-10% more efficient than conventional electric cooking methods.

    Energy Efficiency in Action: Saving in a Polar Vortex!

    Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is one of the coldest and snowiest regions in the U.S. Keeping warm without breaking the bank can be a challenge. When Jennifer and her husband bought a new home, they knew the existing electric resistance baseboard heating wasn’t going to be economical.

    After much research, she decided on a cold climate, ductless, air-source heat pump. Because she chose a model that works well in cold climates, even during the polar vortex in 2019 with temperatures outside of -26 degrees, Jennifer and her husband were comfortably warm, even with one of their outdoor units buried in snow.     Reading Analog Meters

    The reading in the example below is 94838:

    Reading your electric meter is straightforward. For mechanical meters, the dials, which look like little clocks, alternately run clockwise and counterclockwise. Reading from left to right, write down the last number the needle has passed. If the needle is between 2 numbers, UPPCO will use the lower of the 2 numbers. When the needle is between a 9 and 0, the 9 is used. As an example, the correct reading concerning the dials above is 94838.* The difference between the new reading and the previous reading is your monthly energy use.

    *Dial 4 is still read as a 3 despite the needle being on 4 because the dial to its right has not passed 0.
