Help make the world a better place while you get paid to recycle your older, inefficient appliances.

Inefficient appliances draw more power than they need to do their job. Recycling an older appliance and purchasing a new Energy Star-certified model is guaranteed to lower your energy usage. Let UPPCO responsibly recycle your appliance and receive a rebate in the form of a bill credit when you do!

2026 Appliance Recycling Schedule & General Information

  • All appliances recycled by UPPCO must be residential units, and all credits must be applied to residential accounts. No commercial-type units will be accepted or rebated. Rebates cannot be applied to commercial or industrial accounts.
  • Each customer is limited to 2 of each type of item per account per year. I.E. 2 Refrigerators, 2 Freezers, 2 window ACs, 2 Dehumidifiers, 2 Mini-fridges for a total of $260 per year.
  • Appliance must be in working condition. Parts may be removed for moving/transporting purposes, but must be in working condition.
    • Why? UPPCO’s Energy Efficiency Program has the goal of reducing electricity consumption of our system, and our Appliance Recycling Program contributes to that goal by encouraging customers to recycle appliances that are old and inefficient for a rebate. Older appliances that are still in working condition are a good indicator that the unit(s) have been used on our electric system recently, and will result in the appliance not being plugged in again. If the appliance is not in working condition and intact, then there is no way to know when it may have been plugged into our electric system last.
Schedule Your Appliance Pickup

By scheduling a time for hassle-free pickup of your unneeded appliances, you’re taking an important step in saving energy and money. *Please note you do not receive a rebate if you are having your appliance picked up.

  • Pickups must have at least one large item (Refrigerator or Freezer) to be scheduled. No pickups for small items alone. (AC, Dehumidifiers, Mini Fridges).
  • Appliance must be outside of your home at the time of pickup.
  • Final pick-up date is September 30, 2026. If you wish to schedule an appliance pickup after this date, your request will be placed on hold and scheduled once weather conditions permit (likely in the following Spring).
