We believe in community, and we believe in sharing. That is why Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) has always given financially to local nonprofits.

In 2016, UPPCO provided direct grants and volunteer support valued at more than $104,200 to non-profit organizations, associations and other worthwhile causes across the Upper Peninsula. UPPCO’s contributions, which did not involve customer funds, included more than $14,000 in donations from employees to the United Way.

The company’s donations were made in five primary categories: Arts and Culture; Community and Neighborhood Development; Education; Environment; and, Human Services and Health. UPPCO awards such grants to eligible entities located within its service territory spanning 10 of the Upper Peninsula’s 15 counties.

More than 150 organizations representing various interests received funds from UPPCO last year. UPPCO’s donations came not only from employees but retirees as well.

UPPCO has always been not only about wires and electricity but helping the communities our company serves. It is part of who we are as a company to give back and make the Upper Peninsula we have proudly called home since 1947 a better place to work and live for everyone. UPPCO is also fortunate to have employees and retirees who invest of themselves as they always have through volunteerism in the community.
