UPPCO MAKES PROGRESS ON STORM RESTORATION

November 27, 2025  |  Outages, Press Releases

Marquette – Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) crews have been busy working on Thanksgiving Day to restore power in the Western Upper Peninsula and Alger County.

With daylight hours, a weakened storm, and additional contractor crews, our teams have reduced the number of outages from ~5,000 this morning to ~1,300 this afternoon. The largest outages are restored, and more focus will be added to outlying areas this evening. These areas are more challenging to access and have had more wires down and trees on lines. We expect to restore more customers this evening and will stay in close touch with emergency management officials with updates.

“We’re thankful for our crews and the additional boots on the ground that have come alongside us during this storm,” said Dan Freeborn, UPPCO’s Manager of Communications & External Affairs. “We appreciate the support we’ve received from local communities as crews work safely to bring the lights back on.”

Crews will be working through the night to respond to electrical emergencies. Customers are reminded never to approach or touch a downed power line or anything that may be in contact with one. Stay at least 35 feet away and call 9-1-1 immediately to report a downed line.

To report an outage, customers may call UPPCO’s Customer Care Center at (906) 449-2011, email customerservice@uppco.com, or access their online account at uppco.com.
